Dr. Amy Panton
Founder & Editor
Amy Panton (she/they), Press Founder, Editor and Theology Nerd.
Amy is an Assistant Professor of Practical Theology in the Teaching Stream at Emmanuel College in Toronto where she teaches about mental health, disability, neurodiversity, and spiritual care. They are also studying to become a psychotherapist.
Amy is also the co-editor of The Canadian Journal of Theology, Mental Health and Disability, the co-host of the Mad & Crip Theology Podcast.
Amy has two cats, two dogs and a bird, and lives with her partner in Toronto. They love gardening, vintage shopping and tattoos.
Mattea Shuen
Student Intern
Mattea is a student at the University of Toronto majoring in Book & Media Studies and minoring in East Asian
and Contemporary Asian Studies. Her primary research interests lie in book and print history and the impacts of communication technologies on past and present human societies and cultures.
Mattea is passionate about highlighting marginalized communities in academia and the publishing industry and
firmly believes in elevating idiosyncratic experiences and voices to diversify mainstream narratives.
In her free time, she can be found spending time with family, going on walks, or reading fantasy and historical
novels.
Shauna Kubossek
Associate Editor
Shauna is a PhD candidate at Emmanuel College in Toronto, where her research focuses on trauma and atonement. She brings a wealth of experience to her role as Associate Editor at Mad & Crip Theology Press, having worked for many years with communities in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Her deep commitment to amplifying marginalized voices aligns with the press’s mission to center inclusion and liberation.
Shauna’s thoughtful approach to trauma-informed theology, coupled with her collaborative spirit, makes her a key contributor to the press’s work in reshaping conversations around disability justice and mad theology.
